Hey Everyone! Nice to meet you. I am Kamiko and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in Texas and Oregon. I am supervised by Deanna Abraham (Texas), and Dan Rothenberg (Oregon). I have a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.
I specialize in providing trauma therapy to teens and adults, with extensive training in trauma-informed therapy, somatic therapy, emotionally focused therapy, CBT, DBT and client-centered therapy. I have been in practice for 1 year and while my practice is fairly new I have many years of experience working in the mental health field. From doing ABA therapy and working with children that have autism to working in a crisis center and helping individuals with suicidal ideation and severe mental illness I have experienced it all, and that led me to my passion which is trauma.
Growing up in Texas and experiencing my own mental health struggles I developed a passion for helping individuals heal from trauma which is what started me on my schooling journey to now. I take a unique and most importantly individualized approach to therapy, incorporating the techniques above but also adding in creative therapies like narrative therapy and music therapy. I aim to help my clients find their ideal vision of happiness.
When I am not helping others or providing therapy I spend my free time with my husband, kids, and animals (3 bunnies, 2 dogs, and 1 cat). I love music, reading, writing, but most importantly tacos and the beach are life.
Fun Fact: I published one children's book on mental health and depression on Amazon called Faye and Dep and plan on publishing more.
I can't wait to start your therapeutic journey together, and thank you for reading.
